Venice Carnival of Venice: Its origins are very ancient: the first evidence dates back to a document of Doge Vitale Falier of 1094, which speaks of public entertainment, and carnival in which the word is mentioned for the first time. The establishment of the Carnival by the Venetian oligarchy is generally attributed to the need of the Serenissima, like what has already happened in ancient Rome (see bread and circuses), to grant to the people, and especially the lower classes, a short period devoted entirely to the fun and festivities, during which the Venetians and foreigners flocked to the city to celebrate with music and dance. Through the anonymity guaranteed by masks and costumes, they obtained a kind of leveling of all social divisions and still allowed even the mockery of public authorities and aristocracy. Evidently, these concessions were widely tolerated and considered a providential outlet for tensions. Venice International Film Festival: The International Film Festival [1] is a film festival held annually in Venice (usually between late August and early September) in the historic Palazzo del Cinema on Promenade Marconi, in Venice Lido. It is the world's oldest film festival (the first edition was held in 1932). The main prize is awarded - along with several others - is the Golden Lion, which owes its name to the symbol of the city (the lion of St. Mark's Basilica). Such recognition is considered one of the most important from the point of view of film criticism, like the Golden Palm at Cannes and Golden Bear International Film Festival of Berlin. Reached the 67th edition in 2010, the exhibition is part of a broader scenario of the Venice Biennale, a cultural festival that includes an exhibition of contemporary art. The first edition was held in conjunction with the XVIII Biennial. Venice Biennale: The Venice Biennale is a non-profit organization supported by the Italian state. Starts out as a culture in 1895 with the aim of stimulating artistic activity and art market in the city of Venice. To take off the initiative was a group of intellectuals headed by the mayor of the Venetian time, Richard Wild. Both the international art show that Venice International Film Festival events are the first of their kind produced still exist.
